This drum features an integral internal tone flange; a wooden ring/shelf that sits just underneath the outside two inches of the batter head which eliminates head ring, producing a very dry and staccato response. There is also a snare channel cut into the flange which maximizes snare wire sensitivity and response out to the edge of the shell.
